This sub 3 hour marathon training plan is suitable for established club runners with half marathon times of around 1hr 25 or faster. The sub 3 hour marathon training plan is also suitable for experienced marathon runners.
Athletes should be capable of training 6 days a week with some double run days.
The sub 3 hour marathon training plan was written by Mike Gratton
Mike Gratton won the London Marathon in his fastest ever time of 2:09:43 in 1983. This time puts Mike 13th on the all time UK marathon list (as at 2013). Mike also gained a bronze medal in the 1982 Commonwealth Games Marathon in a time of 2:12:06.

Phil Wicks is one of the Country’s leading Distance Runners and in 2012 he was ranked No.1 over the Half Marathon distance. Phil Wicks has competed at the highest level whilst representing the GB Team over both the Road and Cross-Country.
